Jackson selected as STAR Student, chooses Cox as STAR Teacher

Carrollton High School senior Tai Jackson’s academic success led CHS Principal Ian Lyle to name him the school’s 2023 STAR Student and surprised his STAR Teacher selection with a visit to his classroom Thursday morning to make the announcement. Tai chose CHS performing arts teacher Tommy Cox.

King named GPB Sports All-State Coach of the Year

Carrollton head football coach Joey King was selected as the GPB Sports All-State Coach of the Year earlier this week. Coach King finished up his second year as head coach of the Trojans last month when his team finished the season as state runners-up at the Georgia High School Association State Championship.

CHS AFJROTC cadet receives $25,000 scholarship

The Air Force is funding 200 scholarships for Air Force JROTC cadets to attend private pilot training at public/private universities during the summer of 2023, and Carrollton High School junior Ivan Ellis has been selected to attend.

CHS alumnae writes book to celebrate differences

Carrollton High School alumane Kenyata Hendrix read her book "Just a Little Different" to students at Carrollton Junior High School earlier this week. Hendrix said her book celebrates the differences that may exist in a classroom setting, especially when comparing special education and general education and that she hopes it reminds readers to embrace the unique differences that make them who they are.

Hands-on learning is a hoot

This week, Carrollton High School science teacher Tim Hawig and some of his students visited Mrs. Christine Carter's fourth-grade class at Carrollton Upper Elementary. The students dissected owl pellets as they are learning about ecosystems.
