Policy Updates from the CHSU Policy Development Committee

The CHSU Policy Development Committee would like to inform you about recently implemented and updated policies. Please see the summary below and visit the Policies page on the CHSU website for complete list of policies.

1. CHSU Unlawful Harassment and Title IX Policy and Procedures Addendum-Pregnancy (ADDENDUM TO TITLE IX POLICY) (Revises Existing Policy) - September 11, 2024 – This policy is an Addendum to the Title IX policy specifically focused on pregnant students and students with pregnancy-related conditions. The revisions include issues identified in recent regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education. The Title IX Addendum is intended to foster an inclusive environment for pregnant students by ensuring equal access to educational programs and activities in compliance with Title IX. The policy offers guidelines for reasonable modifications, lactation support, and procedures for requesting absences or leave related to pregnancy. It also addresses the privacy and confidentiality of a student's pregnancy status.

2.     SELF-MONITORING POLICY AND PROCEDURES (Revises Existing Policy) - September 11, 2024- This policy amends the Approval to Operate policy. The policy identifies the procedures used by the University to ensure that the University maintains compliance with regulations set by the State of California and the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE). For example, to stay current with regulatory changes, the University subscribes to BPPE notifications, attends relevant meetings, and distributes information about updates to appropriate staff. The Policy also outlines the requirements for posting performance fact sheets, submitting annual reports, and maintaining open communication with the Board of Trustees consistent with BPPE regulations.

Donations Welcomed at CHSU Student Pantries

Both CHSU Buildings offer Student Food Pantries to help provide our students access to food, as well as toiletries and other needed items.

This past week, the CHSU Student Food Pantry at the 120 Campus received a wide array of donations, including refrigerated items, personal care products, fresh meat, and produce.

Monetary donations were also accepted, which allowed us to fulfill a few special requests from the students for more refrigerated items and high-protein snacks while studying.

These donations make a huge difference for the students who would otherwise not have such options without the Student Pantry. The students who utilize the pantry were so excited to see the variety of items available to them and are so grateful to our campus for the many contributions.

If you would like to donate, please contact Rosemary Sanchez at rsanchez@chsu.edu or Mikaela Garces at mgarces@chsu.edu.

Thank you to the three of you ladies for your above and beyond help with the day of preparation for the Annual Clinical Faculty Preceptor Appreciation Dinner. Without even asking, you all dropped everything and came running when you saw I needed help. I could not have done it without you and really enjoyed getting to work so closely with each of you. It is so appreciated to have that kind of team work and support from outside departments.
