Dear CHT Member,

Happy summer! In addition to taking time to enjoy Vermont's natural beauty, we have been looking ahead and making plans for the future.

We launched the Homeownership Equity Program which provides a range of new initiatives to support homeownership for Black, Indigenous, and people of color households. This program includes down payment assistance, available to BIPOC CHT shared equity home buyers who are purchasing their first home. Please watch the short video posted below with more details from Director of Home Ownership Julie Curtin.

Staff and the Board have been engaged in strategic planning – that’s a picture of us at our two day retreat last month. The process includes incorporating ideas and feedback from staff, residents, and community partners. We will share the plan when it is complete this fall.

New BIPOC Down Payment Program
In this video, Director of Home Ownership Julie Curtin shares details about the new BIPOC down payment assistance, which is available to eligible CHT shared equity home buyers. Champlain Housing Trust is the first in the nation to set up this Special Purpose Credit Program to address historically racist systems that prevented homeownership opportunities for generations of BIPOC households.

Voter Information for August Election
Your vote is your voice! Tuesday, August 9th is Vermont's primary election where voters choose candidates that will represent their parties on the ballot in November. Many elected roles are open so there are important choices on the ballot. Early/absentee voting has started and polls will be open 7am - 7pm on August 9th. See the voter information and resources we've put together so you can vote and be heard!
