Dear CHT Member,
Many in Vermont are reeling from last week’s flooding on the anniversary of last summer’s historic storm. Thankfully, CHT was not impacted but our thoughts are with everyone who has been.
We held an outstanding groundbreaking celebration in Shelburne earlier this month. This new neighborhood, Bay Ridge, will include nearly 100 new permanently affordable homes including 68 apartments and 26 condominiums for sale. We are thankful for the support we have received from the Town, the State of Vermont and our congressional delegation.
Bay Ridge, along with Harbor Place, represents the best illustration of what we call the Housing Continuum: the safety of shelter if you are unhoused, the security of affordable rental housing, and the opportunity for mobility and wealth building of shared equity homeownership.
CHT also had a visit with the Acting HUD Secretary, Adrianne Todman, at the end of June. We visited 10th Cavalry Apartments, the the Kemp Center, discussed homelessness at CVOEO, and toured the redevelopment of Champlain Inn, a joint venture with our friends at CVOEO.
Remember one of the best events of the year is coming up: Members Day Picnic on August 17th from 11:00am-1:30pm at North Beach in Burlington! The picnic is FREE and all are welcome! You can sign up here. I’ll be on the grill cooking up hot dogs and hamburgers, and there will be plenty of sides, drinks, and dessert along with lawn games, face painting and music. We are looking for volunteers to help that day if you’re available. Hope to see you there!
