Dear CHT Member,
When I was a teenager I took a bus up to the Catskill Mountains, walked into a hotel and got a job in the kitchen assisting and cooking for 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The hotel gave me room, board, and $75 a week - it felt like heaven.
It’s why I love grilling at our Members’ Day Picnic. This year's was a glorious event with great food, music, and weather - and
hundreds in attendance. For a few hours that day, it felt like a little bit of heaven on North Beach.
There's lots cooking here at CHT.
For starters, please join me
and Director of Homeownership Julie Curtin
virtually for a closer look at CHT's
Farmworker Housing Loan Program. This is our third
CHT in Focus and I hope to see you on Zoom Thursday, September 22nd at noon.
Last week, we gathered to celebrate the completion of Butternut Grove, 20 new condominiums in Winooski, on Mallets Bay Avenue. These homes sold quickly, and at a great price, so we are working to create other new home construction opportunities. Plans are in the works for Shelburne, Hinesburg, and Burlington! In the meantime, CHT always has shared equity homes being resold (30 this past year), so please check the available homes listing on our website.
Our work addressing homelessness continues. CHT has agreed to manage an emergency shelter community in Burlington known to many as “the pods.” Construction is underway and we anticipate these new shelters opening before the holidays in November.
For the moment, enjoy these last few days of summer and the start of a magnificent fall!
