CIAC expressed disappointment with the Government of Canada’s announcement to move forward and ban certain plastic items through its Single-Use Plastics Prohibition Regulations. CIAC maintains that bans of some single use plastic items will not solve the overall problem of plastics pollution and the management of post-consumer plastics.

CIAC is pleased to share the 2021 Responsible Care Report! This year’s edition focused on key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the chemistry and plastics sector and cites many examples of how CIAC and its members worked towards these goals during a dynamic and challenging year.

Fertilizer Canada and CIAC are hosting a virtual multi-session Sustainable Hydrogen and Ammonia Forum September 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 11am-1pm ET. Join experts from industry and government as we discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with sustainable hydrogen and ammonia production, transportation, export, and consumption.

CIAC is very pleased to announce that Kai Horsfield will be joining the CIAC team as Regional Director for Western Canada. Kai comes to CIAC with over a decade of experience in public policy and advocacy communication. This includes over seven years leading and supporting government relations, public policy and regulatory initiatives with the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association. Prior to his time with the pipeline association, Kai worked with the Extractive Resources Governance program at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy.
