CIAC supports UNEA-5 actions to address plastic pollution and strengthen chemicals management 
CIAC is pleased to support the work done at the Fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) in Nairobi, Kenya, which saw the adoption of End Plastic Pollution: Towards an International Legally Binding Instrument.

CIAC PD Vice-President, Elena Mantagaris, moderates panel at Plastics Recycling Conference 
On March 9, CIAC PD vice-president, Elena Mantagaris moderated an important discussion on How to Square Supply and Demand.

Mantagaris was joined by Emily Friedman, Recycled Plastic Senior Market Editor, Independent Commodity Intelligence Services (ICIS) and her colleague Paula Leardini, Senior Analyst for Plastics Recycling, ICIS.

In this session, the two analysts gave their projections for the specific tonnages of recycled material needed in the years ahead and the investment required in both mechanical and advanced recycling for the industry to meet growing demand.

Shipments of Industrial Chemical products reached their highest levels ever in 2021
Recently released preliminary data from Statistics Canada shows that shipments of Industrial Chemical products reached their highest levels ever in 2021. On a dollar basis, Industrial Chemical shipments totaled $27.7 billion in 2021, 4.4 per cent higher than the previous record set in 2018 and 31.6 per cent higher than 2020.
