The Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) recently developed a new, simplified form for agents to use when placing business in the surplus lines market. This form, called the Surplus Line Statement, replaces the Surplus Lines Affidavit of Originating Agent form. This new form was effective on effective Sept. 30 and no longer needs to notarized. Here is a copy of the new Surplus lines Statement.

A decline in accident frequency due to safer vehicles and the adoption of autonomous vehicles could shrink the U.S. personal auto insurance sector by 60% within 25 years, according to a new research report. Read more

Members of Cincinnati-area Insurance Fraud Ring Sentenced


The three main participants in the ring have now been sentenced for filing fraudulent claims for automobile accidents that never occurred, defrauding insurance companies of approximately $85,000.   Read more
