The Census Information Center of Eastern Oklahoma, a program of the Community Service Council, provides access to data generated from the U.S. Census Bureau and through the Community Service Council's Data and Systems Development Task Forces.

June is American Housing Month and National Homeownership Month

Explore the Census Bureau's interactive house tool to learn about single-family and multifamily housing built and/or sold in 2016 - average price, building materials, presence of porches, decks, and patios, square footage, etc.  The data are from the Survey of Construction, a survey partially funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Census Bureau Releases Wealth and Asset Ownership Data Tables

The U.S. Census Bureau just released the 2013 Wealth and Asset Ownership Detailed Tables highlighting household net worth from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. These tables highlight annual household net worth estimates at the national level and are broken down by selected characteristics, such as race, household structure and poverty status. Survey data allow the government to evaluate the effectiveness of federal, state and local programs.

The South is Home to 10 of the 15 Fastest-Growing Large Cities

Ten of the 15 fastest-growing large cities were located across the South in 2016, with four of the top five in Texas, according to new population estimates released last month by the U.S. Census Bureau. Conroe, Texas (near Houston), was the fastest-growing large city (population of 50,000 or more) between 2015 and 2016 at 7.8 percent, making its growth rate more than 11 times the nation's growth rate of 0.7 percent. Some of the other fastest-growing cities were: Frisco, Texas (6.2 percent); McKinney, Texas (5.9 percent); Greenville, S.C. (5.8 percent); and Georgetown, Texas (5.5 percent).
