MY HALF OF THE ROAD IN PRODUCTION
In October of 2018, Boyd Productions released the documentary  3 Seconds Behind the Wheel  through American Public Television in the US and PBS International worldwide.   3 Seconds Behind the Wheel follows the lives of eight drivers over 6 months using in-car cameras and tracking technology to monitor the often-hidden behavior of distracted drivers. While these drivers' habits will shock you, this is a very honest and intimate look at human nature. MIT, Google and the University of Connecticut were involved in the project. For more info go to  https://3seconds.org/

In the Spring of 2019, Boyd Productions continues the story in part 2, titled  MY HALF OF THE ROAD  (working title). This documentary focuses on how distracted driving impacts people outside of the car. Using customized tracking technology  My Half of the Road  takes a POV approach to documenting the moment by moment experiences of cyclists on our roads today (think NYC bike messenger, commuter cyclist and weekend road warrior).

Boyd Productions has also begun production of a new historical documentary focused on the early history of Las Vegas. This feature length film must be completed in 6 months! Due date is the end of May 2019.

PHOENIX: THE LIFE AND DEATH OF ALICE HERZ
Directed By Betsy Kalin

On March 16, 1965, Alice Herz, an 82-year-old German Jewish immigrant, writer, and lifelong peace activist set herself on fire on a street corner in Detroit to protest “the arms race all over the world.” Alice was the first U.S.  activist  to self-immolate in objection to the  Vietnam War , yet is virtually unknown.  Phoenix  sheds light on her life and death while questioning why she has been erased from history as both an intellectual leader of the twentieth century and as a courageous woman affecting social change. Helga Herz, Alice’s daughter, continued her family’s legacy by also devoting her life to activism. Through exploring Alice’s and Helga’s lives,  Phoenix  shows their relevance to contemporary social justice and peacebuilding movements.
