UPCOMING FREE WEBINAR: "WHAT IS THEATRICAL-ON-DEMAND?"
|
Last Spring Laurel Chiten gave a
webinar about "Fan-Based" distribution
,
passing on all that she learned while distributing her newest film JUST ONE DROP. Since then, Laurel has been working with the USA company Gathr Films, who first coined the term "Theatrical-On-Demand".
Now she returns for another webinar on the nuts and bolts about how
Gathr
works. If you would like your film to be shown in theatres across the country without having to pay for a four-wall, and be able to make some money, this webinar is for you. Gathr just launched a new website, with new initiatives, and a new policy. Laurel will explain the fine print, and behind the scenes knowledge about how to take advantage of the marketing, revenue, and consumer data possibilities. Bring your questions!
Added bonus, do you know what affiliate marketing is? If time permits, Laurel will talk about how to use your film, your website, and Facebook to make passive income.
The webinar will take place on Thursday, March 28th at 12:30pm ET.

BEYOND THE DUPLEX PLANET
KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
|
Beth Harrington is in production on her new film,
BEYOND THE DUPLEX PLANET
, the story of artist David Greenberger. Many know him from his ‘zine
The Duplex Planet
– a legendary albeit cult-y compendium of interviews, poems, graphics and record reviews that began when David was the activities director at the Duplex Nursing Home in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Through interviews with David, senior citizen residents at this facility offered up their insights on a regular basis, David edited them into bite-sized glimpses of their interior world, and this publication became “viral” back in the day before the Intertubes made “viral” a thing. David’s work now includes spoken word with music performance based on his interviews with seniors.
He’s got a big show coming up in April in Santa Ana, California and Beth is launching a Kickstarter campaign to shoot the show and all the activity around it.
If you feel you could contribute or even spread the word, she’d appreciate it greatly. You can check out the campaign

THE G WORD
IN SEATTLE & UPCOMING KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN
|
During the month of February,
THE G WORD
team traveled to the Seattle area to capture an important story about the Northshore School District's efforts to implement universal screening for giftedness. With a focus on equity, they're making the prospect of placement in a gifted classroom that much more likely for students of color, low-income students, and English Language Learners. This story is about the long game for education -- no overnight solutions. Changing systems and institutions takes time and this particular institution is well on its way and definitely trying hard to walk the walk of equity and inclusion and we can't wait to share their story. This month they're also working hard behind the scenes to get ready for their Kickstarter campaign, starting in mid-March - watch for it!

The G Word at their

5 BLOCKS
Directed By Dan Goldes
All over North America, city centers are decaying. In San Francisco, an unusual coalition of artists, city officials, property owners and residents is working together to reverse a 40-year decline on central Market Street through the convergence of arts and technology, while working to preserve the culture of the neighborhood. But will this revitalization effort unwittingly displace the current low-income residents and small businesses -– something no one involved wants? Will the reality of pricing people out defeat the promise of lifting people up? Can political and ideological enemies put aside past differences and work together to make real change?
