Where The Pavement Ends
transports viewers to Missouri towns Kinloch and Ferguson, examining
the shared histories and deep racial divides affecting both. Through archival audio recordings,
photographs and the recollections of residents from what was then all-Black Kinloch and the all-
white community of Ferguson, director Jane Gillooly, a Ferguson native, draws parallels between a 1960s dispute over a physical barricade erected between the towns and the 2014 shooting death by police of Michael Brown which brought her town national attention.

The filmmaker is donating 50% of all pre-order proceeds to benefit wolves

, a 501 non-profit organization providing sanctuary for rescued wolves and breeding programs to support dwindling wild populations.

will have its
broadcast premiere on May 23rd at 7:30pm on PBS Socal
, the second largest PBS audience in the country. And later in the year, the film will have a national broadcast on LINK TV.
When Johanna, a 16-year-old transgender Latina, begins her transition and gets kicked out of her home and school, she finds a foster family who loves her and a supportive school principal who helps her graduate and thrive.

SCREENING PART OF "STAY HOME, WATCH TOGETHER"
|
Eric Stange's film
ACTIVIZED
screened online on Sunday, April 26th. The screening was followed by a live Q&A moderated by D.D. Guttenplan, editor of The Nation and the author, most recently, of "The Next Republic: The Rise of a New Radical Majority" (Seven Stories Press), now out in paperback. "ACTIVIZED" follows six first-time activists working on gun violence prevention, voting rights and immigration rights.
The screening was part of
Stay Home, Watch Together
, a timely initiative organized by
Together Films
and from a dedicated group of impact producers, distributors and documentarists. The list of participating films include Oscar nominated documentaries such as

This past April,
THE G WORD
team launched a new social media initiative,
#MyGiftedStory
. In tandem with producing our documentary film, we're experimenting with a
visual storytelling project
that focuses on our nation’s gifted and talented population at every stage of life - from urban, suburban, and rural settings, representing zip codes from all 50 states. To learn more about the project and the deeper story behind it, check out this

JUKE JOINT FESTIVAL REVISITED

When Grammy- and Emmy-award winning documentary filmmaker Ted Reed learned that the Juke Joint Festival, located in Clarksdale, Miss., scheduled for April 17, 2020 was cancelled due to the global health crisis, he immediately leapt into action pushing back the release of his original documentary
THE BLUES TRAIL REVISITED
and instead worked to create a new film celebrating the performers and performances of the festival of 2019. “JUKE JOINT FESTIVAL REVISITED”, a 60 minute film, created for digital release, features exclusive performances with some of the world’s blues legends, old and new. This film celebrates the worldwide impact the Juke Joint Festival has on blues tourism, blues culture, and the unwavering passion and dedication to keeping the blues alive for generations to come. Reed also announced that his original documentary,
The Blues Trail Revisited
, a personal memoir that encompasses the evolution of American music, the power of memory, and a reflection on the treasures of personal experience, will be complete later this summer. He added that he's currently scheduling virtual screenings for late May and June. Watch the film trailer

Experiments in Digital Storytelling
is an initiative by CultureHub and La MaMa that explores the potential of emerging technologies to create dynamic and engaging live storytelling experiences. Initially set as an in-person series in The Downstairs at La MaMa, CultureHub brings the initiative fully online with open rehearsals, prototype performances, and discussions.
In this performance, Double Eye Studios will share a short, prototyped theatrical performance in VR. Actors, directors, designers, and technologists use VRChat to create a cohesive virtual world. After each performance, director Kiira Benzing and her team share their processes working in the emerging field of VR theatre/film and how they approach character, story, and aesthetic.

was screened recently in NYC at the Beth Israel Synagogue. The synagogue is providing asylum assistance to a Garifuna family from Honduras seeking refuge. There was a panel discussion following the film with an update on the violence in Honduras towards the Garifuna community whose lands are being threatened by developers.

had to cancel a dozen screenings around the country due to the COVID-19 shutdown. However, work continues on the film and its outreach. Most recently, Bill was interviewed by Radio Survivor, a widely listened to podcast focusing on community radio. He discussed the history of WBCN, and the documentary, and why the story couldn't be more timely. You can listen

, directed by Mitchell Teplitsky and Gabriel Lantz, had its virtual world premiere on April 21st in partnership with Indiana Humanities. The film tells the story of a married couple in southern Indiana who decide to leave academia to start a composting business employing ex-offenders along the way. Now they're on a mission to avert a looming waste crisis in Indiana, and beyond.

RESISTANCE, INK tells the story of the courage and compassion of Monterey residents as Japanese Americans returned to their hometowns after being released from the Internment Camps. This recently discovered story examines an organized protest against powerful attempts to discourage Japanese Americans from returning to their Monterey Bay communities after incarceration in the camps.
