CIE PARTNER MEETING RECAP

Thank you for attending the in-person CIE Partner Gathering at the 2-1-1 San Diego headquarters this past week, where we hosted 36 attendees from various organizations within our community.

Our gathering commenced with a warm welcome from Steve Montejano, the Client Services Director at 211 San Diego, who opened the session by inviting CIE partners into the welcoming atmosphere of our space.

In a moment of reflection, we celebrated Bi-POC Mental Health Awareness Month, creating a supportive environment where everyone could take a collective breath, allowing us to release tension and nurture our well-being.

Patty Vega (Program Coordinator) and Raenne Brent (Enrollment Specialist) from 2-1-1 San Diego's CalFresh Enrollment Center presented their services, which include over-the-phone CalFresh applications available in various languages. They emphasized several referral pathways, detailing how to connect clients by sending a direct referral via CIE or scheduling an appointment directly with the enrollment team online. Mary Ann Bundang, Program Manager at Health Quality Partners, provided an overview of the Senior Oral Health Partnership (SOHP). This initiative aims to increase access to oral health resources for seniors over the age of 60. The partnership involves nine organizations, including seven health centers, the County of San Diego, and Health Quality Partners. For any questions regarding this partnership, please contact Mary Ann at mbundang@hqpsocal.org

Natalie Ortiz, Senior Director of Unhoused Care Programs at the Downtown San Diego Partnership, made an announcement on “The Hub,” a resource and connection hub for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the City of San Diego that provides navigation support and case management if needed to help navigate available services, identify next steps in ending a persons homelessness, and connect with community programs that address housing, health, and other basic needs. Client that are unhoused in city of San Diego zip codes (starting with 921) and need support can be directed to call 211 to get connected.

Jackie A. Loam, Duals Enrollment & Outreach Manager at Blue Shield of California, presented an overview of the Duals Special Needs plan, which is an HMO D-SNP program approved to participate in the VBID model in 2025. This approval will allow the plan to innovate its benefits design and reduce costs for eligible clients, including grocery benefits, transportation to non-health-related locations, Part D for prescription drugs, and more. Alana Kalinowski, Interoperability Solution Architect at 211/CIE San Diego, and Paul Armstrong, Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of Programs at the San Diego Rescue Mission, discussed a new data integration funded by TA Marketplace. This integration features real-time bi-directional API capabilities that share client data between SDRM and CIE.

We concluded the meeting with an "Ask Me About" activity, where partners could ask the 2-1-1 San Diego CIE team questions regarding partnerships, community voice, or network with other providers.

We appreciate your participation and look forward to seeing you at the next CIE meeting on August 28, 2025 at 9 am. Register to attend via Zoom.

Warmly,

The CIE San Diego Team
