We discussed a critical update regarding CalFresh. The ongoing Federal government shutdown, which began on Oct 1, 2025, is now expected to delay or interrupt CalFresh (SNAP) benefits for participants nationwide if it continues past Oct 23, 2025.
In San Diego County, approximately 395,000 individuals across nearly
240,000 households rely on these benefits, which are 100% federally funded. While October 2025 benefits were deposited, November CalFresh benefits and later months are at high risk. If the shutdown continues past October 23,CalFresh benefit payments will be delayed.
CalFresh benefit payments may not be available on EBT cards starting Nov 1.
