Chair's Message

The Man Who Is Helping to Create a Conscious Planet

Hello friends,

Finally, it can be revealed here right now! I had given you a hint in my last message that we had finalized on the person who would receive this year’s CIF Global Indian Award 2024. And now that all the required protocols are in place, we can share with you the name – it is none other than ‘Sadhguru’, loved and admired around the world. Yes, we consider ourselves truly fortunate that Sadhguru has not only agreed to be our latest honouree to join a long line of illustrious names, but he also kindly agreed to be present in Toronto to receive the Award on November 7, 2024.

Many of you who are on the spiritual track or plain curious about the Indian spiritual traditions or looking to improve our societies or the environment will be already familiar with the tremendous contributions of Sadhguru. He was uniquely effective in bringing millions of young people of India into the spiritual mainstream, giving them tools for wellbeing, Gyan (knowledge), life hacks, and inspiration to stay on the path. From very ordinary beginnings, Sadhguru has risen in the world of spiritual teachers to become a huge figure who straddles both the ancient Indian systems and the modern world. Today the world is going through multiple challenges, both geopolitical as well as societal. The myriad challenges cannot all be tackled by money or technology alone.

Sadhguru is a perfect embodiment of this year’s Canada India Foundation gala theme – Creating a Conscious Planet. Sadhguru’s most important message has implications for the whole of humanity as well as the future of our planet. In Sadhguru, we have a perfect union of understanding the current challenges and finding solutions to the most pressing issues, guided by the wisdom traditions of the ancient Indian spiritual and knowledge systems as well as straight-forward common sense which unfortunately is not so common anymore.

Sadhguru provides practical solutions for the full personal development of the individual as well as long-term solutions to the planet-wide challenges like soil degradation, climate change and food quality. His presence in Canada at this time when Canada India space is experiencing difficulties, is an opportunity for all of us to listen, learn and embrace a path paved with love, mutual understanding and logical insights. Sadhguru encourages unity among all people. By integrating Sadhguru's holistic approach into its policies and programs, Canada can enhance its efforts in mental health, sustainability, and social harmony while amplifying its global influence on pressing issues like climate change and equality.
