Recently, the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce announced winners of the Leadership Greensboro highest awards. Chief Brian L. James received the 2022 Denise E. Maleska Leadership Service.

In addition, the GCC presented four Leadership Service Medals to Curtney Dabny, Steven Matthews, Skylar Mearing, and Jimmi Williams in recognition of the most dynamic and impressive leadership that positively affects the citizens and community of Greensboro. The winners received their awards on February 8 at the Barber Event Center. Ms. Renica Hamiliton, a member of the CISGG Board of Directors

and Leadership Greensboro, nominated Jimmi and presented the award to him. Rinda Estes, assistant director for over twenty years, accompanied Jimmi to the event.

DONATIONS, DONATIONS, DONATIONS!!!

Coats! Fire Trucks! Firemen and Firewomen! Chiefs and captains and city council members. Principal, teachers/teacher assistants, and most of all, children. Lots and lots and lots of children. Nothing could be finer than to be at Wiley Elementary for the second annual "Big Warm Coat Drive" sponsored by the Professional Firefighters of Greensboro in partnership with Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro (CIS). Working with teachers, social workers, and guidance counselors, we determined the need and the PFG purchased the coats and delivered them with great fanfare and great care to about 250-270 wide-eyed, smiling, eager children anxiously anticipating new coats from real live firefighters and a tour of the big red fire truck parked out back of the school. Joined by Fire Chief Jim Robinson and Councilman Hugh Holston, this event represents the heart of CIS partnership work. Everybody wins! And to watch the firefighters make sure that the coats fit, and the right color was downright heartwarming.
