ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW CISC CONTINUES ITS EFFORTS TO ENSURE FAIR PRICING AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE CANADIAN STEEL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY.
On December 20, 2019, the CBSA received an application for a scope ruling from Enerkem Inc. of Montreal, Quebec, whether its specialized prefabricated process units (SPPU) would be subject to the Canadian International Trade Tribunal’s (CITT) finding issued on May 25, 2017, concerning the dumping of certain fabricated industrial steel components (FISC).
On August 14, 2020, the CBSA made a scope ruling pursuant that the SPPU units for use in converting RDF to methanol, as detailed in the application of Enerkem, are not subject to the CITT’s finding, as revised on June 26, 2020.
CISC appealed and the appeal was heard on June 1st, 2021, by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT). Together with industry partners CISC presented strong arguments with the intent to overturn the CBSA decision. The ruling is expected within 4 months.
