Protections Coming For IL Women
In Construction Industry
| | |
New protections are coming for women in Illinois’ construction industry. A new Illinois law, effective Jan. 1, 2027, will require construction sites to provide important workplace accommodations, including dedicated private restrooms on qualifying jobsites, free menstrual products and expanded accommodations for nursing mothers.
Led by Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) (CWIT), these changes represent an important step toward creating jobsites where women can build long, successful careers in the skilled trades. A stronger construction industry means making sure every worker has the opportunity to succeed.
