CISDR Helps Students with Social Distancing
With the start of in-person learning, Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR) Site Coordinators are finding creative ways to assist students while limiting exposure to COVID-19. At Lawson Early Childhood School in McKinney, CISDR staff created social distance ropes for 10 classrooms. These ropes will be used to help students maintain a safe distance while walking in the hallway. By working with campus teachers and staff, we are helping our kids get through a tumultuous school year.
CISDR Commits to Social Emotional Learning
In these uncertain times, social emotional learning (SEL) helps kids acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to be healthy adults. At Audelia Creek Elementary in Richardson ISD, CISDR staff are using the Sanford Harmony curriculum to engage students in SEL and racial equity activities. In addition to reviewing activities for teachers and counselors, CISDR staff are translating SEL lessons to Spanish, so that bilingual classes can participate in these vital learning activities.
Golf Tournament Raises a Record $160,000!
The 9th Annual CISDR Golf Tournament raised a record $160,000, a 15% increase from last year. We couldn't have done it without Flowserve, Ryan, and AT&T, as well as all of the generous sponsors listed below. To maximize the safety of all involved, everything was held outdoors, with a “drive in” finale where Site Coordinator Rey Maldonado, spoke from the heart and thanked our players for truly making a difference in the lives of thousands of students.
With nine golf outings on the books, we are already hard at work planning our 10th Anniversary Tournament. Please save the date for Monday, September 27, 2021, and be on the lookout for more information to come.
