Peace Bus

peace bus

CISV Canada Peace Bus will be rolling through Alberta twice this summer carrying Canadian youth doing service projects and learning about Canada and CISV Pillars of Education as they go.

There are two different groups and so two Calgary Chapter chances to welcome them. Mark your calendar, as you are all invited to join the fun.

Eastbounders will be Stampeding on July 5 and will have a Chapter BBQ on Monday July 6 at the Rowe's beautiful country home (email Kim for a map).

Westbounders will be here in August with the Chapter BBQ at the Rowe's on August 22.

For more information, including directions, please contact Kim Rowe at peacebuscochair@gmail.com

Regional Mini Camp in Cypress Hills

For the first time ever, Calgary and Saskatoon held a regional Mini Camp.  It gave the members of both Chapters an opportunity to spend time with lots of new friends.  Sharing the responsibility of planning and running activities was great.  All involved came away with new ideas for their Chapters events and meetings.

The weather was not warm and sunny the entire time, but no one seemed to notice.  The kids had a wonderful time, and it couldn't have happened without all of the families that drove and helped out.  Thank you drivers.

A special Thank You goes out to  Shane Jost and Laura Linnell for all of their assistance in the kitchen.  Extra hands made a HUGE difference!

Thanks to everyone who attended Bon Voyage it was a fun night sending off our kids in style.

Thank you to all the people who bought 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets.  Big Thanks  to
Sally Taylor  who donated her 50/50 winnings back to CISV.  The money raised will be added to our bursary fund to help make CISV available to more families.

We also received a $1500.00 donation towards our Bursary Fund.  Thank you for continuing to believe and support CISV Calgary.  Thank You

A Request From CISV Saskatoon

Hi Friends in CISV Calgary,

We thought it might be a long shot but if someone from Calgary was willing to help us out we could cover cost of gas to drive down from Calgary. Also free food, lodging and tons of fun!

We have had a bit of a set back with our kitchen for this summer's Step Up. We are looking for your help! We need some volunteer cooks during the week (we already have weekend cooks). If you have a flexible work schedule or the summer off we hope you'll consider cooking for 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 up to 10 days.  Shifts are between July 6- 24
