CITY OF VALLEJO ASSISTANCE IN FBI INVESTIGATION LEADS TO A TWO-COUNT FEDERAL INDICTMENT

Vallejo, CA - In early to mid-2020, the City of Vallejo contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to report an attempted bribe of City officials. As a result, the City and City employees assisted the FBI in their conduct of an investigation into an illegal marijuana grow operation within the Vallejo City limits.

The collaborative effort resulted in the FBI’s recently reported action and a federal grand jury returning a two-count indictment today against Steven Chu, 40, of San Bruno, and Ben Guan, 35, of San Francisco.

Chu and Guan were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit federal program bribery and one count of federal program bribery.

The City is thankful to our partners at the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their efforts in this investigation. This is an ongoing case, and all inquiries are directed to the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California, at (916) 554-2700
