Possibilities Program Grows in Second Year
On May 21, 2020, seventeen students were virtually honored for their participation in the second year of the Possibilities Program at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus. This career readiness program provides on-the-job skills through volunteerism. As part of the virtual celebration, a video of student speeches was played for St. Luke's and Colonial IU 20 administration.

Colonial IU 20 plans to grow this collaborative partnership with St. Luke’s during the 2020-2021 school year and give even more students the opportunity to learn these valuable employability and independence skills.

PBS for Virtual Summer Camp
Colonial IU 20 has partnered with PBS39 for It’s Camp! - a daily 30-minute program live from Valley Youth House’s Camp Fowler, which is designed to offer quality education with a focus on STEM, STEAM arts, literacy, nutrition, leadership and nature. The show premiered on June 15th and will air weekdays at 11:30 a.m. on PBS39 and run through August. It’s Camp! is designed for school aged children 9-14 across the Greater Lehigh Valley and features Colonial IU 20 educators.

Through  It’s Camp!  children will have the opportunity to virtually participate in bike rides, fish in the pond, and grow and cook their own vegetables. Supplies required for this instructional program will be listed online so families can easily gather materials from around the house to participate. It’s Camp is available on PBS39 and is live streamed on  PBS39.org  and on  PBS39’s Facebook page .
Project SEARCH Interns Graduate
with Career-Ready Skills
On June 10, 2020, eight students were celebrated virtually for graduating from Project SEARCH, an innovative internship program in partnership with Kalahari Resorts in Pocono Manor. Project SEARCH is a one year training program for young adults with disabilities to gain work experience and obtain competitive employment in their communities. The day before the ceremony, Colonial IU 20 teachers and administrators, as well as representatives from the Human Resources Center, visited students' homes to drop off items in preparation for the ceremony.
Distance Learning Approaches for
SEL and Mental Health
An International Webinar Featuring Colonial IU 20 Panelist
On June 16, 2020, Colonial IU 20 administrator Dr. Ron Prator, served as an expert panelist on the international webinar titled " Four Districts’ Distance Learning Approaches for SEL and Mental Health." The event featured strategies from urban and rural district leaders about how they are supporting their students’ mental health and social-emotional learning in the wake of COVID-19. Participants learned concrete steps they can take to deliver effective, trauma-informed SEL and mental health support to students and staff, as well as sources of funding and support.

2020 Graduates
On June 4th and 5th, Principal Dr. Carolyn Krotowski, Assistant Principal Mr. Mike Halamar, and other team members visited the homes of the 2020 graduating class for a final send off to their high school career. Everyone at Colonial IU 20 is extremely proud of the growth and achievements of these young adults during their time at Colonial Academy.

2020-2021 School Year
Colonial IU 20 continues to support its member districts on re-opening plans for the 2020-2021 school year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. CIU 20 has been developing guidelines and protocols with task force teams comprised of various district leaders in the areas of: Instruction, Special Education / Pupil Services, Technology, Transportation, Facilities, Safety / Health / Food Service / Security, Administrative Operations, Extra-Curricular / Athletics Activities, Human Resources, and Communication.
