March 7, 2019
Greetings!

On Wednesday, March 6, we began the Lenten Season with our Ash Wednesday Mass at Emmanuel Church. This also marked the first day of the CJ Lenten Mission Drive.

This year, contributions collected in the drive will be given to the Sister of Notre Dame de Namur's Photovoltaic Project and the Marianist Missions in India. The Photovoltaic Project helps to provide electricity and clean water to people in developing countries. The Marianist Missions in India help to support people living in extreme poverty by providing education, job training and much more.

Students can contribute change in their classrooms and in collection jugs in the cafeteria. Each jug corresponds with a staff member who, if their jug has the most money, will do something fun.

On Friday, March 29, students are invited to watch a screening of Black Panther after school. Admission is $3 and includes popcorn. There will also be baked goods for sale.

The Lenten season is a time to deepen our relationship with God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We hope that the Lenten sacrifices you make result in a deeper relationship with God that extends well into the Easter Season and beyond.

Class of 2019 Senior Trip Update
We have seen some students with confirmed cases of the flu which seem to be taking four to five days to recover. We encourage all students going on the Senior Trip to take precautionary measures such as not sharing water bottles, washing hands regularly, and covering coughs to prevent spreading potential illnesses. If your child becomes ill over the weekend, our school policies ask that your child does not return to school (including the senior trip) until they are fever free for 24 hours. We want everyone to have a safe and healthy senior trip.

MINISTRY & SERVICE
From the Chaplain's Office
This Sunday, the First Sunday of Lent, we hear the story of Jesus' 40 days in the desert and his temptation by the devil. I recently found a  video reflection  that might help you enter into this scripture passage and to enter into the "desert" that is our 40 day sojourn of Lent. You might consider giving yourself a "5 minute retreat" by watching the video and experiencing anew, God's love. Let's pray for each other as we journey through Lent.
