Preparations for Tu B'Shevat are happening all over the building. Kindergarten students have been learning about different types of trees -- specifically those found in Israel. They created “Trees of Israel” paintings and created a mural on the wall of their classroom.

First grade is bringing in tzedakah for the next few weeks that will go towards planting a tree in Israel. These students are also learning in their Hebrew workbooks about the seven species listed in Deuteronomy, different types of plants, wheat, barley, grapes, figs, dates, pomegranates and olives, and the nutrition they provide for us. Students are going to be putting together a poster of the reasons 'why we love trees.' ( Lamah oha vim eitzim? )
