The CJHS Junior Beta Club last week came home with top prizes from the state convention held in Savannah, with the two state champions qualifying for nationals.
Connor Haley took the top award in Seventh Grade Language Arts category while Edward Kenyon placed first in Seventh Grade Science.
The CJHS
Quiz Bowl team also competed well by placing seventh overall out of 84 teams. At right are the team members, from left, Eden Long, Ian Larson, Hagan Russell, and Nate Langlo. All are seventh graders, too.

CHS named National Beta School of Distinction
|
Carrollton High School has been named a 2018-2019 National School of Distinction by the National Beta organization.
This award is an honor for Beta chapters that strive for academic achievement, exemplary character, demonstrated leadership and service to others. With an ongoing quest to instill these qualities in more students, the National Beta School of Distinction Award is designed to award those schools that show an increase in membership for the current school year.
To be a member of the Beta Club at CHS, freshmen must have been a member of Junior Beta the previous year in junior high while 10th through 12th graders must maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
To recognize this honor, CHS received a National Beta School of Distinction banner to proudly display as a symbol of the accomplishment. In addition, National Beta School of Distinction recipients will be publicized at the 2019 National Beta Convention in Oklahoma City, OK, this June.
"This prestigious honor is a true indication of Carrollton High School's dedication to academic excellence, leadership development and commitment to celebrating their student's achievements," said National Beta's Chief Executive Officer, Bobby Hart.
National Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. Since its beginnings in 1934, National Beta has been committed to providing students with a positive experience in a supportive manner in grades 4-12. The organization recognizes outstanding achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, and fosters leadership skills.

CES Strings introduces new performance attire
For its almost two decades of existence, the CES Strings violin program wore khaki pants and polo shirts for performances, and sometimes Christmas sweaters during the holidays. In Wednesday's annual CES Sing-Along performance, the girls wore long black dresses and pearls, while the boys donned black pants, white shirts and bow ties. All looked very professional as they performed traditional Christmas selections.
