On Tuesday, October 24th Governor Hochul announced the largest-ever state investment in renewable energy projects. The awards covered three new offshore wind and many land-based renewable energy projects. In total, these projects represent 6.4 gigawatts of clean energy production, which is sufficient to power 2.6 million homes in New York state. With the inclusion of two offshore wind blade and nacelle manufacturing sites, these awards stand to create 8,300 jobs.
The offshore wind projects were awarded to: Attentive Energy One, Community Offshore Wind, and Excelsior Wind. These projects are slated to come online for commercial operation by 2030. In addition, numerous land-based renewable energy projects were announced that include
14 new solar projects, six wind repowering projects, one new wind project, and one return-to-service hydroelectric project, totaling a combined 2,410 megawatts.
