Virtual Messages Congratulate 64 FLAS Recipients

Sixty-four recipients of the prestigious Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowships were recognized on November 16 with virtual congratulatory messages from Ohio State leadership and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education and Ohio’s legislature.

The recognition video launches the Office of International Affairs’ series of virtual events to celebrate International Education Week, November 16-20, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote learning opportunities that prepare students to be global citizens by strengthening their global competency and cultural understanding.

The Newcomb Art Department at Tulane University invites applications for the Martha and Donald Robertson Chair in Latin American Art, at the rank of associate or full professor. Scholars specializing in the arts, architecture, visual and material culture of pre-Columbian and colonial cultures in North, Central, and/or South America are encouraged to apply.

3rd International Symposium for ILCLA

This year, The University of Georgia Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute will host the 3rd International Symposium for Indigenous Languages and Cultures of Latin America (ILCLA). This event will bring together indigenous leaders, instructors, scholars, and community activists from around the world for a virtual forum on the indigenous languages and cultures of Latin America and the Caribbean. The symposium will be held on March 19-20 and March 26-27, 2021 and will be FREE and open to the public.

We invite proposals for a wide range of topics related to indigenous languages and peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean, with special thematic tracks on indigenous public health, environmental justice, and virtual indigenous language instruction. The deadline to submit a proposal is December 15, 2020.

Pachaysana Workshop Series- Reflection of Workshop #3

The final installment of the Pachaysana Workshop Series will take place on November 20 from 9:30-11:00 AM. It will serve as a reflection of Workshop #3 and a wrap-up for the series.
