CLAS Virtual Coffee Hour

Disappointed that our last Tinker Talks session was cancelled back in March? Well, don't miss out on this Thursday's Virtual Coffee Hour because two students who were scheduled to give their talks on March 27th are now presenting virtually! Join us to hear Guillermo Bervejillo and Palo Pinillos Chávez speak about their Tinker fellowships.

Linda Blanchard, K-12 educator and alumna of the Summer Seminars Abroad for Spanish Teachers, led a cooking demonstration of different types of salsas.

Coffee Hours are designed to continue offering ways to network and engage with each other on topics and themes related to Latin America. Discussions will take place on Zoom every Thursday from 1:30 - 2:30 PM. Please suggest new themes and/or lead future discussions based on your interests (music, cooking demonstrations, favorite books, review of journal articles, etc.). "From Protest to Policy: How Does the George Floyd Movement Ensure Lasting Change?"

The Ohio State University's Institute for Democratic Engagement & Accountability (IDEA) and Center for Ethics and Human Values (CEHV) are proud to host U.S. Representative Joyce Beatty (OH-3) and Dr. Darrick Hamilton of OSU's Kirwan Institute as keynote speakers for a panel discussion, "From Protest to Policy: How Does the Movement Sparked by George Floyd's Death Ensure Lasting Change?" This online event will feature remarks by Congresswoman Beatty and Dr. Hamilton, followed by questions from moderator Dr. Michael Neblo (IDEA/CEHV) on the scale and scope of calls for justice and what the current coalition must do in order to translate this show of public will into lasting change to our system. This online event is Tuesday, July 7 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and is open to the public.
