MISSION MINUTE: URBANPROMISE

CLC continues to be a faithful partner of UrbanPromise through service, fundraising, and engagement! On Sunday Feb 15th, CLC Kidzone (K-5th graders) learned about the vision of UrbanPromise to see the lives of Wilmington youth transformed by Christ! Students were invited to participate in collecting, cutting, preparing, and assembling craft materials for UP Summer Camps - a great opportunity led by Loryn Mascaro to offer hands-on, age-appropriate service work for our grade school level on Wednesday nights. Our heart is to see the entire CLC family, across generations, serving Christ in one accord! On Thursday February 12th, CLC's team of Duffy Sample, Becky Lewis, Mary Kobak, Laura Woodin, and Abiy Agiro volunteered at UP's Speech Contest Coaching event with one-on-one coaching, writing support, and encouragement with Wilmington students. Student speeches will be presented and shared on March 18th and 19th in Wilmington, DE. If you are interested in attending, reach out to Abiy Agiro at agiro2003et@yahoo.com

Upcoming March Event:

This class is the place to discover what CLC believes, what CLC's vision and values are, and what it looks like to be a CLC Covenant Partner, which are the terms we believe best describe what the Bible intends for committing to a local church. You'll enjoy a casual lunch, meet some great people, hear Pastor Bob share his heart, and discover more about the treasure of the CLC Family. This class will be held on Sunday, April 26th at 10:45 pm in room 221. WALK ALONGSIDE A LINCOLN UNVIERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Each year, students from around the world arrive at Lincoln University and land in our community with no family nearby, no car, and no public transportation to get around. Everything is new — the culture, the climate, the food, and the rhythms of daily life.

As a church family, we have a beautiful opportunity to be a “home away from home.”

We are seeking individuals and families from CLC who are willing to walk alongside an international student in simple, practical, and meaningful ways.

This could look like:

  • Giving a ride to the grocery store or medical appointments
  • Showing them around the area and visiting local destinations
  • Hosting them for dinner
  • Providing a ride to the airport
  • Hosting them overnight on weekends or during holiday breaks when campus is closed

Sometimes what they need most is not anything complicated, just friendship, hospitality, and someone who cares.

Daniel Sesay, who once stood in their shoes as an international student from Sierra Leone, will provide an orientation before matches are made. Lincoln’s Student Advisor will also be present to answer questions and help thoughtfully connect families with students.

Contact Daniel Sesay at daniel@clcfamily.church or Laurie Sample at Laursample@aol.com if you are interested in learning more or signing up.
