Connect. Learn. Change. CLC Newsletter

Welcome to The First CLC Newsletter

Welcome to the first edition of the new Community Literacy Centers monthly Connect. Learn. Change. newsletter! We are excited to launch this new way of staying connected with our students, partners, donors, volunteers, and friends. You might just learn and be changed because of it!

As we close out 2025 and look ahead to 2026, this newsletter will serve as an ongoing window into the impact you help make possible—sharing stories of progress, celebrating milestones, and keeping you informed about what’s happening across CLC. Together, we are building momentum toward what we believe will be our Best Year Ever in 2026, and we’re grateful to have you with us on that journey.

This Month’s Highlights

Celebrating Cheryl: 30 Years of Service: Honoring Cheryl MacDonald’s Dedication to Adult Literacy

We are proud to celebrates an extraordinary milestone—30 years of service by Cheryl MacDonald, our devoted Operations Manager and one of the true pillars of our organization.

Cheryl’s journey with CLC began three decades ago when she first joined as a volunteer for the Private Reserve Gala fundraiser. Always driven by her passion for helping adults learn to read and achieve their educational goals, her warmth, organizational skills, and tireless dedication quickly made her an indispensable part of the team, leading to a full-time role that has grown alongside the organization.

Throughout her 30 years of extraordinary service, Cheryl has been the heart of CLC’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that every detail—from classroom logistics to community partnerships—runs smoothly. Beyond her professional contributions, Cheryl has also been one of CLC’s most generous donors, investing personally in the mission she lives out each day. Her commitment extends far beyond her job; it reflects her deep belief that literacy changes lives. When asked what has kept her here for three decades, Cheryl shared,

“I’ve stayed because of the people—our students, our staff, and our volunteers. Every day, I see how learning to read or earning a diploma gives someone new confidence and new possibilities. Being part of that transformation never gets old.”

Cheryl’s leadership, generosity, and unwavering heart for service have touched every corner of Community Literacy Centers. Her legacy continues to inspire us all to reach higher, give more, and believe deeply in the power of education and the priceless gift of reading.

Thank you, Cheryl, for 30 remarkable years of dedication and impact. Your work has helped thousands of adults open doors to brighter futures. We would never have come this far without your innumerable contributions!

Important Reminders

The Importance of Year-End Giving

Year-end giving plays a vital role in sustaining CLC's programs and services. Donations made before December 31 ensure adult learners continue to have access to literacy, language, and education opportunities when they need them most.

Giving before the end of the year also allows CLC to get a head start on next year and plan ahead—supporting instructors, learning materials, and student services—and may provide potential tax benefits. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor regarding individual circumstances.

Make your year-end gift by December 31 to support adult learners today and help create even greater impact in 2026.

Save the Date: Private Reserve - April 9, 2026
