Attention Columbine Lake Owners!

Colorado Unit Mennonite Disaster Services will have volunteers coming on June 16-20 and possibly June 25 and 26 to chip wood from the East Troublesome wildfire at the horse pasture. Families and individuals are encouraged to come lend a helping hand and get to know your neighbors. We also have some common areas particularly by the northeast boat racks that need clean up and restoration.

We will be working from 9-4 pm each day.

We would anticipate gathering at about 8:30 to get assignments and instructions for the day. Volunteers will be given water and lunch.

Please email Mary Johnson at [email protected] or text 303-726-9890.

Include name(s) age(s) of participants and whether you would be interested in learning to become a chipper operator. PLEASE INDICATE DAY(S) YOU COULD HELP. Individuals younger than 18 will not qualify to run the chipper.  You will be contacted with specifics after you have emailed Mary

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A DAY FOR YOU TO BRING MORE SLASH TO THE HORSE PASTURE - THIS IS TO CLEAN UP WHAT IS THERE!

WE WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE OUR ANNUAL SLASH AND TRASH JUY 24 & 25th.

We are still looking for housing for the out of area volunteers for 3 to 4 nights. Colorado Unit Mennonite Disaster Services can reimburse you for lodging the volunteers.

Please email Mary at [email protected]

Virtual Town Hall Meeting and Voting

A virtual town hall meeting to go over the proposed 2021 / 2022 budget and meet the candidates for the 3 open Board of Director spots will take place on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at 2 pm. The regular scheduled board meeting will still take place that morning @ 9am.

More detailed information will be emailed out to each owner at a later date.

Board member elections and the 2021/2022 budget approval will be done using the same electronic voting system that was used successfully last year.

An email blast will be sent out to verify the primary email address and mobile phone number we have on file which will be used to send out the voting link. Each vote will be weighted based on the number of lots you own.

Get Paid to Fish

The Northern Pike is an aggressive species of fish which was illegally introduced into our lake several years ago. One of the Pike’s favorite prey are the Rainbow Trout which we stock several times a year. Spring netting has proved to be helpful in controlling the Pike and also monitoring our trout population, but more aggressive action is warranted. Since this invasive and damaging species has become a problem in numerous lakes in Grand County, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife department has established a bounty on the Pike. CLCC is establishing a similar program as follows: For every Pike caught in our lake, the angler will earn $20 when the pike is brought to the office at 351 Columbine Dr. (see office hours at end of newsletter) With sufficient participation, a prize may be awarded at the end fishing season for the most Pike caught.
