August 2025

Greetings!

This year marks a monumental occasion for Changing Lenses Changing Lives (CLCL) as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. We were thrilled to welcome Wyclif Gitonga, our Executive Director from Kenya, for a whirlwind three-week tour across the United States, starting on May 22 in Longmont, Colorado.

Thanks to the dedication and generosity of our community, the trip was a tremendous success! We raised enough funds to continue our feeding program for another year and, for the first time in our history, successfully sponsored all 10 children on our waitlist. We now even have a growing waitlist of potential sponsors!

We feel supported by our community and want to express a heart felt Thank You for taking the time to come out and meet Wyclif and hear from him directly how much your support means to our kids!

Please take time to read the highlights from his trip and top 20 memorable moments.

Celebrating a Milestone: Wyclif Gitonga's Visit to the U.S.

Wyclif made visits to New Mexico, Colorado and Texas, engaging with our community during nine events.

He spoke at four churches: Westview Presbyterian in Longmont, United Church of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, St. John the Apostle in Arlington, and St. John United Methodist Church in Austin; and met sponsors, friends, and donors at five more informal events. This outreach provided a fantastic opportunity for sponsors and friends to meet Wyclif and learn more about the impactful work of CLCL. Special thanks to our sponsors—Cork Rowley, Steve and Nancy Barber, Jan Gerro, Pam and Mike McGraw, and Jennifer and John Wynne—who graciously hosted these events. Additionally, we were honored to have local Santa Fe restaurateur, Ahmed Obo (pictured above), a native Kenyan, host a fundraiser at his restaurant, Jambo Café.

Wyclif's journey to the United States was particularly poignant as it was not only his first trip abroad, but also his inaugural experience flying. Despite facing various travel challenges—including mechanical delays, weather disruptions, missed flights, rerouting, and even lost luggage—Wyclif remained optimistic and has already expressed his excitement to return in 2027.

We were thrilled to have Wyclif meet so many of our sponsors and donors. The fundraisers were lively, informative, and well-attended! If you weren’t able to meet Wyclif in person or couldn’t attend the events, we invite you to support our 10th Anniversary Fundraiser.
