This two-week, half-credit online course equips clergy for pastoral leadership by exploring healthy boundaries in ministry. Designed for diverse ministry contexts, the course addresses issues such as sexual misconduct, gender discrimination, and clergy burnout, while promoting strategies for self-care and congregational wellness. Participants will deepen their understanding of boundary setting to foster authentic fellowship and communication within the church life.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Rev. Dr. Yvonne Martinez Thorne, an ordained clergy member of the American Baptist Churches USA, holds a Master of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. She is the founder and CEO of Cultivating Wholeness Counseling Associates, which provides specialized counseling for clergy and lay leaders. A seasoned consultant with the Philadelphia Baptist Association and a former leader in the Baptist World Alliance, she teaches at Lexington Theological Seminary on topics such as clergy wellness, healthy boundaries, and multicultural ministry. Dr. Martinez Thorne is also a published author. Her dissertation, “Achievement Motivation in Successful, High-Achieving Latina Women” (Teachers College, Columbia University, 1995), explores motivational dynamics among Latina achievers. She is a frequent speaker on boundaries and wholeness in church leadership.
