News of Note

Deadline Approaching: Kindergarten ECDS Uploads

For the 2024-2025 school year, Texas LEAs must report kindergarten assessment results by January 30th. This year, districts using TX-KEA will submit results to the Early Childhood Data System (ECDS) using the Ed-Fi Individual Operational Data Store (IODS), instead of the XML files that have been used in the past.

Typically, the PEIMS Coordinator will be in charge of this task using CLI Engage for submission. Please review our Ed-Fi ECDS information which includes submission steps and details. We recommend only pushing data for Wave 1 during the BOY reporting period to avoid transmitting any scores collected in error.

Update Class Rosters & Wave Settings

Mid-year is an ideal time to update your class rosters if there have been any changes. Our Uploading Student Data webpage provides several options for keeping student records in CLI Engage current. If your district uses automatic rostering, please avoid making manual updates to your rosters.

Before beginning middle-of-year assessments, teachers and specialists must update their Wave setting. You can do this by selecting Wave 2 from the drop-down menu on your dashboard.

New! Optional Feature for Assessment Windows on CLI Engage

Assessment windows are now open for each LEA to choose on CLI Engage. A new optional feature allows LEAs to limit access to a specific administration window for teachers.

District administrators can set testing dates for assessments and waves, with scores and reports always accessible. This feature ensures assessments are conducted during the correct waves and within designated periods, without affecting report data or Ed-Fi results sent to the ECDS for Texas public schools.

The "lock" feature prevents accidental administration outside the defined window. Learn how to use this tool.

Partner with Families

Helping Parents Understand Assessment Results

Building positive relationships with families is crucial for supporting children's learning and development. One effective way to achieve this is by helping parents understand their child's assessment results.

When parents understand assessment results, they can better support their child's strengths and address areas needing improvement. This collaborative approach fosters trust and open communication between educators and families, ultimately benefiting the child's overall development.
