A few SFA Dartball action shots. We're not sure, but we think Kenny might have been a little over the line . . .

and Matt celebrated his birthday this week with a little axe throwing apparently.
John's usual--

CLI is getting ready to launch another recruiting drive. We need a few good people. Full-disclosure-- we are extremely choosy. But, we do interview 100% of all applicants. We're looking for character, work ethic, and ambition. Everything else we can teach on the job.

As a DODD-certified service provider, there are a lot of new hire expenses that CLI has to invest in a new employee. These add up to be about $1,000 per hire. We're already cautious because of the trust that our clients put in us and because it's bad for everyone involved if we get that wrong.

The great thing about working for CLI is that not only do you get to help each client work toward their unique ambitions-- we're always looking to leverage what we do to benefit the larger community. We believe that in order to help people engage in the life of their community, that CLI must be working to build more community and more resources for everyone-- not just people with DD.

If you know someone that you think would be a good match for us, please send them our way.

Have a great week. It's got to get warm sometime. I know we've lightened up on CLI's masks restrictions, but please keep yourself safe. Keep those hands clean & there's nothing wrong with a maintaining a little social distance. I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed going more than 2 years without even a cold.

John
In case you're wondering what day it is--
according to nationaldaycalendar.com it might be:
FAQ of the week:

Q: Is CLI the same thing as Christie Lane?
Didn't CLI just host the Christie Lane Bears All Star Basketball game?

A: NO! You would be surprised how often we get this type of question. I'm sure that HCBDD does too. Ohio changed its laws about DD services because the conflict of interest if County Boards of DD controlled Medicaid funds AND then paid themselves to provide the actual service too. So at the end of 2015, CLI and the Huron County Board of DD amicably divorced. CLI is a private non-profit business that is 100% independent. The Huron County Board kept the name "Christie Lane"-- so if you hear anything advertised with the words "Christie Lane", it is the Huron County Board and not CLI. Likewise, if CLI hosts an event, that event has nothing to do with the Huron County Board of DD.
Firelands Local LLC
Well April is finally here. The spring weather is upon us. Well at least if you can look past the tiny blizzards and cold blowing wind it is.

3/25 was our annual shred drop off day. We collected 16,825 lbs. from 23 customers. That was a 30% increase in weigh from last year. I would like to thank all the folks that took part in our event. Together we helped save 143 trees from being harvested.

We followed that up with another busy week. We started service for 2 new customers and completed 3 purges totaling just over 12,000 lbs.

Production was very busy as well completing 31,000 units.
We shredded 24,000 lbs. of paper last week and collected 8,000 lbs. of cardboard for recycling.

We continue to grow and are looking someone who like to be part of our growth. We have an opening for a full time person that will be helping in all areas that we operate. If you are interested, please apply at firelandslocal.com.

Good Works Cafe
CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse. Thanks to the generous donations (money & food), CLI is able to take care of our neighbors and also get some real life restaurant and customer service job training.
