John's usual--
While we don't seem to have many pictures to prove it this week apparently-- CLI was back in full swing last week. It was good to see everyone back after the extended Independence Day break.
We're getting ready for our next cornhole tournament on Friday evening, July 29th at Suhr Park. Then, two weeks later on Friday, August 12th, CLI is going to hold a 40 year reunion at the CLI workshop, if you can believe it. We'll be holding an open house-picnic from 2pm - 6pm and we hope to get lots of old friends to drop in-- clients, staff, family, neighbors, SSAs & other County pets, whoever-- to stop in to say hi & grab some food.
We though a reunion would be fun when we realized that 2022 was the 40th year for the workshop and because CLI is expanding some of workshop-based services again.
CLI ran a fun, productive shop for more than 3 decades before COVID. However, while there were lots of good things about the workshop, but there's no getting around that it is a segregated service site. Ohio's laws are not supposed to allow segregated services to be paid for by Medicaid after 2022. However, there may be some walk-back on this. CLI has been having a tough time getting our community-integrated services authorized over the past year. It will definitely be interesting to see how this shakes out over the 2nd half of 2022. There hasn't been too much talk about segregation up until this week, when DODD pushed out a webinar about community-integration and Ohio's "settings" rule. There's a link to that webinar below if you're interested.
Anyway back to the workshop reunion on 8/12-- we'll be doing lots of promotion and special invites as we get closer. We really want to see all of our old friends again. If you know anyone who has a connection to the CLI Workshop, please share this open invitation for 8/12 with them. There will be lots of FREE food & entertainment. I know that Firelands Local will have lots of information about the jobs that they have available if anyone's interested in learning more about that.
Have a great week. We'll do better with pictures in our Christmas in July issue.
