Boots to Grasses Therapeutic Horsemanship Program is a volunteer-based, 501c-3 non- profit organization which provides the opportunity for personal growth to children/adults and military veterans facing challenges through the horsemanship experience.

Thanks to all of you who came out to CLI's 2nd of 3 Cornhole Tournments. Another beautiful evening in uptown Norwalk's DORA district!

We had a small hic-up a few weeks ago that's worth talking about. We organized a special full-day activity away from any of our regular spaces. One individual had a great time all day, but had a hard time understanding that this meant their end of the day routine would be different. We ended up having to call the family out to provide the ride home. CLI staff felt bad for having to ask for the family's help and I think the family may have felt embarrassed.

All of us at CLI believe that our mission is to keep expanding people's experience, trying new things, visiting new places, etc. The down side of not doing exactly the same thing everyday is that we all have to learn new stuff and work through new wrinkles. Boring is not the objective. It's all part of the job. We feel bad when we have to call families for help because we feel like we've let them down by having to do that. Families should NOT feel bad or feel like they are putting CLI staff out when there is a bump. This is our job and our privilege. Please keep signing people up for new activities-- and asking for things we aren't doing yet. Ohio's DD system isn't going to get any better until people and their families start wanting & expecting more-- more opportunities, more income, more of whatever is important to our client & their family.

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon

at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse

Question of the week



Q: Where does the money go that CLI makes from cornhole tournaments, bowling alley operations, and renting out 16 West Main Street?

A: CLI's mission is to increase the earnings, status, and quality of life of people with DD-- and to work toward the same for people who support people with DD-- and to improve the communities within which we all belong.

CLI provides quite a few services that we do not charge any money for. We also provide services for which we are paid, but not enough to cover the full operational costs. CLI uses any extra money that we can get our hands on toward our mission. That can mean many different things, from paying admission fees for community activities, putting fuel in vehicles, paying down debt, property taxes, etc. But, however any extra money is expensed, it is only ever spent in line with CLI's mission.
