I hope that everyone had a safe, happy long weekend. Mine was really nice. Hard to believe that it's the second week of July already. The summer is flying by.

CLI's OOD Summer Youth programs kick off this week. We had pretty decent turnout this year, which is good. It's definitely a curriculum that does better with a decent-size peer-group. You might notice some small tweaks in terms of your regular driver, or who is covering the workshop, because to offer these Transitional Youth services, we have to pull staff from their regular duties. As always, we'll try to keep the disruptions to a minimum for the rest of our regular programs.

We've had a few people express frustrtions that they aren't always sure who they need to call at CLI to let us know about some last minute change to a CLI client's attendance schedule. One of the consequences of CLI being so community-based is that I think sometimes our clients and/or their families aren't always sure who to call with information and/or special requests. The short answer, is just make it easy on yourself. Call your regular CLI contact. If they are on vacation, they will have a message telling you who to call in their absence. If they are not on vacation, but temporarily re-assigned somewhere else, they will forward your message to the group chat & the person that needs to know will get it. CLI uses modern technology pretty heavily.

Have a great week & take advantage of the summer weather. Summer is supposed to be hot. Just dress for whatever weather we have, get outside, bring water & keep moving!

free community lunch every Friday afternoon

at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse

Good Works Cafe will be having a random CLI & Firelands Local staff drawing each week to show appreciation for all the things they do. The lucky winner will receive a baked good made by the Cafe client-volunteers.

Q: What is CLI's Thursday Date Night about?

A: CLI thinks that IRL social connections are very important-- and we think that the most meaningful & fun way to make/keep those connections is in the community at normal adult mingling time, which is evenings & weekends. We know that many people have day jobs and we want to make it possible for people to do something fun and/or important to them with one friend. That's what Thursday is about. CLI staff will take you wherever you want to go with whatever person you choose. This will take some planning to make sure that the other person is all set to go, but other than that, our goal is to have our new Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday daytime activities to be as open-ended as possible.
