John's usual--
CLI's first Cornhole tournament is coming up next week. I hope to see you join us on Friday, June 28th. We get some questions about why CLI hosts these cornhole tournaments. There are 2 answers-- the first is that we just like doing it. They are fun, relatively easy events to host. And it's always nice to have a low-pressure, community-integrated event where people just hang out and enjoy each other's company. The cool thing about these cornhole tournaments is simply that it doesn't matter what your skill level is or anything else. It's just fun to enjoy a beer and a hot dog (or slice of pizza this coming week) with a happy group. It feels very "on-point" for CLI's mission. Also, it does raise a (smallish) amount of money for CLI after we pay out the Tourney winners a few hundred dollars, CLI is usually able to deposit $500 into our operating account-- which are funds we then use to pay for community stuff, whether the recent Put-in-Bay trip or paying part of the Monday Bowling League entry frees. A little more money always helps. I like to say that money is one of those necessary but inadequate (on its own) components. Twenty bucks is twenty bucks. It won't buy happiness, but . . .
With any luck the hot streak is behind us for a bit. Murphy's Law being what it is, the workshop's A/C has been down for the last 2 weeks. Luckily the lunchroom's rooftop unit has been plugging away, so we've been able to limp along without having to shift our facility-based ADS stuff to 16 West Main Street. Word on the street is that the Huron Commissioners have signed with a local company to install a new system at the shop, so with any luck, by August we'll be compaining about the cold.
That's all I have. Please stop out this Friday at 38 West Seminary anytime after 5pm this Friday afternoon to say hi to Holly, Haven & me. I will have a tab going at the tiki bar and will be happy to buy your first libation! Hope to see you. Have a great week!CLI
