Summertime means as much time on the water as we can get. A big thank you to our friends at Sandusky Sailing Club's Community Sailing Program who are always so generous in sharing their time

& their boats!

John's usual--

Happy first week of summer people! It has even felt like summer last week. CLI staff are trying really hard to take advantage of as many outdoor activities as we can. I know there might be a few hot moments, but it's going to be November way before we're all ready for the return of Ohio cold! June is a funny month because it feels like you have so much warm weather & nothing but time spread out before you. But, it's just not our reality. These warm, sunny minutes are going to go by too quickly!

For those cornhole aficionados among you, the 2023

3-tournament series kicks off on Friday, July 21st. It's a good time-- even if you aren't all that great you should still come out as there will be opportunities to win cash prizes no matter what your skill level!

CLI is looking to fill 2 full-time positions with benefits. If you know someone who you think would be a great fit, please tell them to email me and I'll schedule an interview within a week.

Just a reminder that Rhonda White's retirement send-off party is this week-- at the Firelands Local Workshop at 1:30 THIS Friday, June 30th! Just a reminder that if you have an axe to grind with Ms. White, this is the last time it's still her job to listen to you with a pleasant expression on her face. Hope to see you there! We've got LOTS of cake on order. No good will come out of me being responsible for large quantities of leftover cake!

That's all I have for now. Thanks & have a great week!

John

CLI helps lots of people volunteer to do lots of different things-- usually it's in a typical community setting doing typical volunteer stuff at OHgo (pictures left) and other food pantries, the Humane Society, etc. However, one thing that volunteers started doing in 2020 when we couldn't go out to those locations was to start making things that they then sell at local markets & fairs. The volunteers then choose a worthy community partner that they want to donated the proceeds from those sales.

We've been grateful for the Milan Public Library's willingness to partner with us this year and so the volunteers are strongly considering whether their next donation should go to the Friends of MPL.

Happy first week of Summer!

and nothing feels more like summer than an ice cream social after the usual weekly Bingo game

Announcing CLI's newest service exclusively offered to people who are community employed--

because there's more to life than the daily grind!

We believe that lifetime learning and playing shouldn't stop after high school or after you get your

first "real" job! CLI wants to help you continue to grow and/or to enjoy the fruits of your labor!

CLI's Good Works Cafe offers a free community lunch every Friday afternoon at the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse.

Thanks to the generous donations (money & food), CLI is able to take care of our neighbors and also get some real life restaurant and customer service job training.

If you'd like to learn more or would like to donate to this cause--

please contact Rhonda White by phone at 419-706-5136 or by email at Rhonda@CLIsupports.com

Question of the week

Q: How long has Rhonda worked at CLI & the O.G. "Christie Lane" anyway?

A: Rhonda was first hired by the Huron County Board of DD on December 16, 1998. CLI became Rhonda's employer when we privatized away from HCBDD in 2016. So when she retires next Friday, June 30, 2023, she will have worked for HCBDD then CLI for:

8963 days or 24 years, 6 months, 15 days. That's also 1280 weeks and 3 days-- or 294.5 months-- or 12,906,720 minutes--

or 774,403,200 seconds.

No matter how you count the time, we've been lucky to have been blessed by her service and her company. We wish her well as she starts this next chapter of her life!
