The Usual--

Lot's of Halloween activities this week. Some more exciting than others . . .

CLI does our best to keep our old school, facility based adult day services engaging, but it's hard to keep everyone's interest all the time. That typically is not true of community-integrated opportunities.

DODD put on a training on the "settings" rule this past week. It seems that the Ohio Department of DD will be focusing again on requirement that the Federal requirement that Medicaid money must be used in ways that ensure that individuals with DD are being enabled to participate in typical activities in typical settings. CLI changed its business model in 2013 based on this setting rule, so we're eager & ready to help our clients make new community connections.

The weather continues to be unseasonably warm. However, we will get winter weather soon. We'll be running a test this week of CLI's one-call system, telling everyone that CLI will be open for Veteran's day next Monday. Let us know if you do not get this one call and/or email so that we can update your info on the one call distribution list!

Have a great week. Remember to keep those hands clean! In the season of blood & guts, it's important to remember universal precautions.

What's new in Thrive?

Every week in our THRIVE classes we work on computer skills. We do everything from basic keyboarding, building resumes, to playing typing games. In the future we will be expanding to learning how to apply for jobs online and using email. We are so grateful that we have laptops and chromebooks available for our use.  

We also continue to visit various businesses. Over the past few weeks, we have explored some small businesses in Norwalk, Summit MotorSports, The Watering Can, Menards, and New London City School District. If you have any suggestions for businesses to visit, please feel free to reach out to Julie at julied@clisupports.com

staffed entirely by volunteers with DD

with food donated by OHgo and other community partners!

Question of the week

Q: How can I take advantage of CLI's new services that will help me do social activities in the community?

A: The short answer is to talk with your SSA first. Their job is help your build your plan of services that will help you be healthy & successful. CLI staff is available to help you connect with friends in the community-- whether at a local sporting event, a music event, a bowling league, or whatever. But, the process has to start with your plan, which is what gives CLI permission to help you plan and do these after hours activities with friends.
