Bowling Leagues are starting this fall & CLI is sponsoring teams on the Norwalk Monday Mixed league, the Wednesday Night Women's league, and the Wednesday Night Men's league.  We know other people that would like to join a league but can't find a ride.

Sign-ups are almost closed, but just a final reminder that Kenilee is willing to cover your weekly league fees in exchange for roundtrip transportation on league nights for bowlers who don't have a ride (food for thought).

John's usual--

CLI is shuffling our routes again to work around having less staff available to drive. Thank you for your patience. I know that frequent changes are frustrating for everyone (us too-- honest). CLI needs more staff. We have been super lucky for the last two years because even though we couldn't recruit new staff, we didn't lose any of the (awesome) staff that we already had.  That really changed over the last 3 months as 3 full time & 1 part time staff have moved on to new opportunities. We believe in supporting choice-- for both clients and staff. We know that all of us have to do what's best for us and for our families. However, losing approximately 20% of our already short workforce is going to take some real creativity to work around. We are blessed to have such a capable and dedicated group of core staff. They really are remarkable.

We've doubled our recruiting efforts and hopefully we'll be able to build back our ranks soon. In the meantime, we're still trying to sort out what it means for programs. One of the things that we're going to need to take a close look at is attendance. We're going to have to schedule staff super tight in order to do everything. We know that life happens, but absences are really disruptive.  It's important that we use staff effectively and efficiently.

If you know of anyone who is interested in learning more about working for CLI, please have them call me at 419-706-5137 or email me at john@CLIsupports.com.  Stay tuned as we work this all out.  We're staying positive.  Have a good week.

John

October is National Disability Month AND it's the 10 year anniversary of Ohio's Employment First Mandate.  We've come a long way, but there's still lots of WORK to do!

Another noteworthy anniversary to remember this month is the 35th anniversary of the release of The Princess Bride!  Inconceivable!

Question of the week

Q:  I saw that Christie Lane Levy is on the ballot.  Is that CLI?  Do I still need to vote for the levy?

A:  "Christie Lane" is the Huron County Board of DD (HCBDD).  HCBDD does still operate Christie Lane School.  The programs that CLI runs used to also be part of the HCBDD.  However, Ohio's laws changed so that County programs are no longer allowed to operate adult programs, so at the end of 2015, CLI agreed to take them over as a private enterprise.

So-- CLI is completely separate from the Huron County Board of DD (aka the OG "Christie Lane").  BUT-- most of CLI's services (and other provider agencies) are paid for by a combination of federal Medicaid money and local levy dollars.  Other services are 100% paid for using local tax dollars.  Also, HCBDD does still operate Christie Lane School, Early Intervention, Help Me Grow, and a Community Recreation program.  So voting for the levy is still important!
