Sorry that this newsletter comes a little late this week. We'll get back on the Thursday/Friday publication cycle again moving forward.
We had a bad weather day closure on Thursday, 1/15, last week. CLI tries not to close because we know that people count on our services. However, the roads last Thursday were pretty bad between the heavy snow and strong winds. Huron County declared a Level 2 Snow Emergency and Erie County declared a Level 3 Snow Emergency. Fingers crossed moving forward, we'll be luckier. It's Ohio and it's winter, so we'll definitely have more ice, snow, and wind coming at us. However, the timing of when it comes is a key factor. Bad weather later in the day and overnight aren't as much a problem (typically) as long as that bad weather ends before 3 am and conditions are manageable by 6 am. As much as we hate to close, we will error on the side of caution when it seems appropriate. CLI's "one-call" system can be set up to send you voice message, a text message, and/or an email about delays, closings, and other key events. If you or other people that need to know are not getting those messages, please let us know and we will add those contacts. Remember that when that phone call comes, it will come from my number. Don't call me back right away-- look in your voice mail first. We will always leave a voice mail with the update.
CLI has lots of new curriculum and activity plans for 2026 that we think will be fun. We will continue our push to encourage people to engage in active pursuits and otherwise lean into wellness. Stay tuned!
The workshop building is scheduled for a power outage at some point next week. When this happens, we will be shifting the ADS hub to the Norwalk Reservoir Clubhouse (and it's working furnace and fireplace). We've got some really fun themes for that day that we think people will really like so that we can turn the inconvenience into a fun social event.
Finally, we've had quite a large number of absences over the past two weeks due to illness. Let's remember our safe practices, like washing our hands and maintaining a little social distance when we are in groups whenever possible.
