John's usual--
We should be ready to formally unveil CLI's ADS Quality Pilot Grant implementation details at the beginning of February. We've been fortunate to collaborate with a number of other day service providers around the state. Haven & Holly met (virtually) with those partners last week to compare notes and we've got some staff training and other administrative chores to complete before we can start actually delivering anything. We're fortunate to have these other agencies to partner with on this grant project. One of the things that I'm most excited about is a new array of services to young adults still in high school. It's good stuff! Stay tuned.
A CLI one-call went out last Friday reminding people that CLI programs are open on Martin Luther King Day. We're big fans of Dr. King and appreciate his legacy, but we know that people count on us to be open as much as possible. We put out the one call because we know that people still confuse us with HCBDD, the OG "Christie Lane". HCBDD is a county agency and will be closed on Monday. CLI is a private company and not a bank, so we'll be open for business. If you did NOT receive the 1-call and/or email and/or text-- please let us know so that we can make sure your dets are still correct in our distribution list.
We've had some questions about whether CLI will close because of extreme cold. I don't want to say that we "never" will, but we will do everything in our power not to close. If Huron County officially declares a level 3 and/or everything else in the county is closed down, including some local offices-- it does make us nervous and we will usually follow suit. But, in general my advice is to remember we're (mostly) all from northern Ohio and we're not new to real winter. As it gets colder, wait inside your warm house for your van to arrive-- then carefully come out to meet us. Wear warm clothes as well as a hat & gloves. I'm a big fan of thermal layers under my clothes in the winter. CLI spends a lot of money maintaining our vehicles, but if we ever were to have a problem where a van stopped, we would immediately send a 2nd van to pick up passengers so that nobody was sitting in a cold van. Our transportation routes are generally pretty small these days, so that makes contingency planning easier too.
That's all I have for this week. Stay warm!
John
