CLI's Tammy Jamison is very dismissive of all things automotive that are not "Chevy" apparently, so Woody figured he'd represent the other domestic brands last week for her

Meet CLI's Jimmy Johnson!

Jimmy has worked for off & on for CLI for 4 years, leaving us every year to go back to Cedar Point. If the big guy next to Jimmy looks familiar, there's a reason for that. Jimmy's dad, James Johnson, is the General Manager of Firelands Local LLC. Fun, random fact-- James (Sr.) & I attended the same high school in Youngstown in in the early 1980's.

We asked Jimmy what he thinks people might like to know about him-- here's what he said:

"I grew up in Youngstown Ohio when I was 8 years old moved to Epharta, PA where I graduated high school. I then went to school and got a license to work in pre-schools. In 2015 I then moved back to this area of Ohio. I have been working with CLI since 2019 in the winter months. The other part of the year I work in the rides department at Cedar Point. I have been working at cedar point since 2015. I love sports, and while football is my favorite, I will watch or do any of them. I'm a big Cleveland fan. In my free time if I'm not watching sports then you will most likely find me working on my house (in Norwalk) that I bought this fall."

Jimmy facilitates a number of community-integrated activities, but also spends quite a bit of his working week coordinating more traditional ADS activities in either Seminary or in the workshop.

John's usual--

We should be ready to formally unveil CLI's ADS Quality Pilot Grant implementation details at the beginning of February. We've been fortunate to collaborate with a number of other day service providers around the state. Haven & Holly met (virtually) with those partners last week to compare notes and we've got some staff training and other administrative chores to complete before we can start actually delivering anything. We're fortunate to have these other agencies to partner with on this grant project. One of the things that I'm most excited about is a new array of services to young adults still in high school. It's good stuff! Stay tuned.

A CLI one-call went out last Friday reminding people that CLI programs are open on Martin Luther King Day. We're big fans of Dr. King and appreciate his legacy, but we know that people count on us to be open as much as possible. We put out the one call because we know that people still confuse us with HCBDD, the OG "Christie Lane". HCBDD is a county agency and will be closed on Monday. CLI is a private company and not a bank, so we'll be open for business. If you did NOT receive the 1-call and/or email and/or text-- please let us know so that we can make sure your dets are still correct in our distribution list.

We've had some questions about whether CLI will close because of extreme cold. I don't want to say that we "never" will, but we will do everything in our power not to close. If Huron County officially declares a level 3 and/or everything else in the county is closed down, including some local offices-- it does make us nervous and we will usually follow suit. But, in general my advice is to remember we're (mostly) all from northern Ohio and we're not new to real winter. As it gets colder, wait inside your warm house for your van to arrive-- then carefully come out to meet us. Wear warm clothes as well as a hat & gloves. I'm a big fan of thermal layers under my clothes in the winter. CLI spends a lot of money maintaining our vehicles, but if we ever were to have a problem where a van stopped, we would immediately send a 2nd van to pick up passengers so that nobody was sitting in a cold van. Our transportation routes are generally pretty small these days, so that makes contingency planning easier too.

That's all I have for this week. Stay warm!

John

Question of the week

Q: I'm signed up for the CLI newsletter, but I'm not getting it. John says that I'm already signed up. What can I do?

A: Check your Spam and Trash folders. Your computer might see these newsletters as unsolicited marketing and automatically taking care of them for you.

All CLI newsletters are also available on the www.CLIsupports.com website under the "News & Events" tab. On the right side there is an "Archive" column. The most recent newsletter is at the top, but if you scroll down, you can see ones from the last couple years too.
