John's usual--
CLI spends lots of time in classes, various activities, and volunteering for other local non-profits. As a result, we get to see everyone starting to put up decorations & hear all the holiday music. It's hard not to get excited, so we dug out our Christmas decorations box and started decorating the workshop.
There's lots of clutter at the workshop as we decrease how much of the space gets used for CLI programs. We're getting rid of quite a bit of stuff. We're staging items that we can't keep in the workshop hallway, so if you see anything that you'd like to put in your house, make us an offer! The picture above is of a twin bed on casters made out of birch plywood. We have 2 of these that we'll give away to anyone that wants them. I'll be putting them on Facebook Marketplace later this week, so please let a staff person know immediately if you want them.
There have been increasing cases of COVID locally. CLI follows the current CDC guidelines for COVID, which are 5 days of isolation at home after symptoms first present. We allow the client or staff return on the 6th day (unless they are still exhibiting symptoms) as long as they stay masked up for the last 5 days. I am very worried about what will happen if a significant percentage of CLI's very small team gets ill-- especially with COVID. And that's not the only illness we should be worrying about. Let's all help each other stay well!
CLI does lots of individual and very small-group community-integrated activities. Unplanned absences due to illness will be a problem. If the staff person that coordinates a given activity is unexpectedly out, there are often last minute changes to the schedule as we shift staff around to cover for them. We always try to make it as least disruptive as possible and make sure that we prioritize the really important things where others in the community depend on us first. Please be patient with us if your schedule is altered in this way. Ditto with weather-related changes. I want CLI staff to drive super slow when the roads are snowy. This might mean that your normal morning and/or afternoon transportation times are a little late from time. I apologize for the frustration/inconvenience. I'm grateful that CLI staff are so committed and absences are relatively rare. When one of us is missing unexpectedly, there is a good reason.
That's all I have for this week. We're always looking for new pictures, so if you take a picture of anything fun this week, please send it in!
