Meet CLI's Holly Binkley!

Holly is probably the most well-known CLI staff since she handles all of our intake and is often the first staff person that people meet when they first explore CLI services-- and she can often be found behind the wheel and/or leading community integrated activities.

Holly was first hired by the Huron County Board of DD (the OG "Christie Lane") on March 17, 2008, to develop a non-vocational day program. She was hired by CLI in January 2016 when HCBDD privatized adult services.

Holly says that her favorite part of the job is the people she gets to work with. When not at work she enjoys kayaking, jeep trips, and traveling to visit her kids. If she working with all of us here, Holly would like to be running an organic farm somewhere.

John's usual--

I hope everyone enjoyed their St. Patrick's day-- but not too much so as to make your Monday rough. Jimmy returns to his summer work at Cedar Point next week, so this coming Thursday will be his last day until late October or early November. He's been an invaluable part of CLI (as usual) these past 5 months and we truly hate to see him go. That being said, we respect his reasons and wish him well.

Next Friday, March 29th, is Firelands Local Document Destruction's big FREE shred day where anyone can bring up to 500 pounds and have it destroyed at no cost. FYI-- Firelands Local offers 50 pounds of free shredding to local seniors all year long on the first Wednesday of each month-- but next Friday is the big one.

This Friday is CLI's new Transitional Youth Pizza & Bowling Mixer. There is no cost to this event and it's open to any high school student on an IEP and their families. Recent graduates who receive services from a local County Board of DD are also invited. The purpose is two-fold-- a social mixer for the young people-- and a information sharing, planning session for parents. There are very, very real differences between what resources look like while someone is in school vs. what they look like afterwards. In our experience with recent graduates, we've found that parents and young people are shocked and unprepared for these differences.

Thanks & have a great week!

John

The group's been doing some sitting exercise workouts in the ADS classroom at the workshop.

It's important to keep moving. Even low-impact workouts like these are better than nothing.

There's been lots of the foam job at the Firelands Local Workshop over the last 2 weeks.

It's a fun job that most people like, but there's heavy lifting getting the scrap material into gaylords.

Teamwork makes the dream work!
