Meet Firelands Local's Margaret Reffner!

Margaret has been with CLI & Firelands Local LLC for more than 15 years. She worked for HCBDD until CLI privatized at the end of 2015, then for CLI until transferring formally to Firelands Local LLC in 2020.

Margaret says that her favorite part of her job is that she has so much independence. Her passions outside of work are organizing, problem-solving, video games & gardening. She says that if she weren't working with us, she'd probably be volunteering somewhere.

Nobody works harder than Margaret. We're very lucky to have her on team!

John's usual--

So it was my birthday last week and I was visited by a group of well wishers. That was really fun. I don't know that the video posted on CLI's YouTube channel does it justice. There's also an enthusiastic dancing/singing clip that happened after the group had had enough of the Taylor Swift movie concert. If you've got a video that you'd like to share, just let us know. We're always looking for things to put in this newsletter.

Hard to believe that March is almost over! Warm weather has to be coming, right? Just a reminder that CLI Programs will be closed this Friday and the following Monday for a mini spring break. Community employment transportation will be running like normal. The solar eclipse is the following Monday (April 8th). All CLI programs will be closed, including transportation, on Monday, April 8th because all predictions are that the roads around Norwalk will be really congested as visitors swarm to our area so that they can look up.

CLI said goodbye again to Jimmy Johnson last week for the season. I definitely don't want to rush the summer because I'm looking forward to taking full advantage of the warm weather-- but, we're all looking forward to Jimmy's return in the fall.

That's all I have. Enjou your week!

John

Lots of fun stuff last week-- both inside and outside of CLI's own spaces. All the usual volunteering around Huron County, as well as classes at the Ernsthausen Rec Center.

Carole was hard at it in her regular crafting classes at the FL Workshop-- supervised for the last time by Jimmy before he returns to Cedar Point for the season.

Also, the Chamber is willing to come to your place of business to speak with you, your Leadership Team or Employees about the Eclipse.

There's been lots of the foam job at the Firelands Local Workshop over the last 2 weeks.

It's a fun job that most people like, but there's heavy lifting getting the scrap material into gaylords.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Question of the week

Q: Why will CLI be closed for the Eclipse on April 8th?

A: The short answer is that we aren't sure we could get people home at the end of the day anywhere close to the regular times. This can be a big deal for people who have scheduled medicines and/or need to eat on a regular schedule. We were also worried about getting vans stuck in traffic for an uncomfortable amount of time.
