Meet CLI's Roxanne Neel!

Roxanne worked with Firelands Local for about 3 years before CLI swiped her from James. She's a good addition to the CLI team. We're excited to take advantage of her significant job coaching experience. Roxanne is working with Haven to build our new Transitional Youth programs.

Roxanne says that her favorite part of the job is the people. Her interests outside of work are reading, shopping, and spending time with grandchildren.

If she weren't working with CLI, she says that she'd be retired and/or maybe volunteer somewhere.

CLI hosted it's first Transitional Youth Bowling Party of 2024 at Kenilee Lanes last week on Friday, March 22nd. It was a good turnout and a fun time. CLI's next FREE Transitional Youth Event will be on Friday, April 26th.

Quinn is a University of Toledo Recreation Therapy Intern with CLI this spring. It's been great having her therapeutic expertise for all sorts of applications including working toward communication goals

John's usual--

I hope that everyone had a great holiday this weekend. Most CLI programs are closed today for the holiday. Community Employment transportation is still running and it is the Monday day bowling leagues final bowling day AND season's end banquet, so I'll be taking our league bowlers to that.

Next Monday is the Apoc-Eclipse. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to look (indirectly & only with special glasses) up at 3:12 pm that day. CLI programs will be closed again next Monday-- this time including Community Employment transportation-- because all predictions were that the roads and everything else was going be bedlam. If this turns out not to have been true and we should have stayed open-- please accept my usual apologies. On a sidenote, Kenilee Lanes will be open on April 8th 12pm-7pm, if anyone is looking for something to do, or if you just want to drop in for a beer and to chat up either Darlene or me.

CLI staff have had a couple long weekends lately, which means that they're just itching to help you get out and do stuff! Seriously, this works best if we help you do things that are important and meaningful to you. If you have something that you'd like to learn or try-- we want to know. Haven's the keeper of the calendar, but tell any CLI staff & we'll get it to Haven.

Congratulations to Aaliyah Alley, who signed up for CLI's newsletter at the EHOVE career fair last month & has won a $25 gift certificate for Kenilee Lanes! Bowling season might be winding down for the spring, but we'll be back at it in September. FYI-- Kenilee Lanes is available for private rentals, any day - any season. CLI & FL employees get a decent discount, so it pays to invite someone on the inside to your party if you want to have it a Kenilee!

That's all I have. I have a feeling this week will go by quickly. I'm just hoping that it's a little bit warmer!

S

John

One of CLI's long-time clients is going to try another day program starting this week, so last week people wanted a group picture before she left. Change is hard, but super important. If you never try anything new, you really can't make informed choices. Still, we're hoping that we can find ways to stay in touch. One of the things that's true of CLI is that we have decades-old relationships with many of our clients & we can't help but miss people.

Did you know that many people are afraid to make money because they worry that they'll lose their benefits and/or their waiver?

The reality is that Social Security and Medicaid want people to work and make money. There are lots of ways to earn money while protecting your benefits & Waiver.

There's been lots of the foam job at the Firelands Local Workshop over the last 2 weeks.

It's a fun job that most people like, but there's heavy lifting getting the scrap material into gaylords.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Question of the week

Q: Why will CLI be closed for the Eclipse on April 8th?

A: The short answer is that we aren't sure we could get people home at the end of the day anywhere close to the regular times. This can be a big deal for people who have scheduled medicines and/or need to eat on a regular schedule. We were also worried about getting vans stuck in traffic for an uncomfortable amount of time.
