Meet CLI's Carole Johnson!

Carole came to CLI in the late winter/early spring of 2023 because she was interested in volunteering to teach craft classes. Fortunately for CLI, we not only got her volunteer work as our in house "Crafting Queen"-- we also got her paid work as the Huron County Inter-office Mail Courier Support Staff!

Carole is a joy to work with and says that her favorite part about her job is "everything". Her passions & interests outside of work are crafting, reading & cleaning. In fact, she says that if she weren't working at CLI, she'd be cleaning right now!

One fun fact is that Carole is mom to Firelands Local LLC's General Manager, James Johnson.

We're grateful to have Carole on the team!

John's usual--

I hope everyone had a good weekend. It was nice to have two nice days in a row. I guess it's time to start reminding people to apply sunscreen before you think you need it.

Carole Johnson is the featured staff of the week. Carole's been a great addition to our staff. She first came to CLI because she wanted to volunteer, but we were able to talk her into a little paid work helping the Inter-office mail courier. Carole's positivity is infectious. Holly reminded me last week of something Pete Moore (CEO of the Ohio Provider Resource Association) said about maintaining your company culture. His point was that it takes concerted effort by everyone, that it isn't good when you get to work and you're disappointed to see someone else's car in the parking lot. Well, we're always glad to see Carole's car!

Haven, Kristi, Roxanne & Grace have been hard at work expanding CLI's Community Employment services to be a more broad array of supports. Up until now we've mostly just focused on the obvious issues-- helping people find a job, keep that job, and get transported to that job. However, there is much more to work than simply going to work. While I do believe that working has value for work's sake, it takes more than a job to make a well-rounded life. Helping people with work is a necessary starting place, but we must do more to support the whole person. So, over the next few weeks, Haven will be pushing out CLI's new "THRIVE in Community Employment" array of supports. We're pretty excited about it.

That's all I have for now. Have a great week!

John

Question of the week

Q: Is it true that CLI is offering a Thursday date night support service?

A: Yep, CLI will be setting aside staff time every Thursday evening as part of our newly expanded comprehensive Community Employment support service (which we're branding as "THRIVE in Community Employment). So if you're holding down a community job, we want to help you stay on top of a social life too. We're calling it "date night", but we don't care if a platonic friends thing. The main point is it's another opportunity for you to get out and do what you want, with who you want.
