John's usual--
I spent the latter half of last week in Toledo at the OPRA conference. OPRA stands for the Ohio Providers Resource Association and is essentially the lobby & trade group for DD service providers in Ohio. While it's hard to get away from the normal weekly routine, I find these kinds of networking/training events really productive-- both in terms of staying up to speed with what's unfolding in Ohio & in terms of learning from peers in other parts in the state. There are so many interesting things going on around our state, facilitated by many different providers. It's inpiring. Overall I'm proud of how CLI measures up to other programs and other places-- especially given how small we are. But still, I think we could learn a lot by visiting other programs. I'd like to start planning 2 day trips each month sending small groups out to tour other programs to see what we can learn and maybe copy here. Road trips are fun. Stay tuned for that!
Cedar Point is almost open! Roxanne & Grace are getting passes because CLI will be offering day trips to Cedar Point for both our Transitional Youth Clients and our community employed clients who often get left out of the normal day program social/fun stuff. Let Haven know if you're interested!
The warm weather has been nice! I have a very ratty pair of running thermal pants that I've almost thrown away, but then we keep getting more cold weather. Maybe now? Let's all make a point to enjoy any nice weather we get. It's a gift!
That's all I have. Have a great week!
John
